May 12, 2026Church Giving Migration FAQs: Switching to My Well
Everything Churches need to know about switching giving platforms with confidence and minimal disruption.
Migration Fundamentals
Migration is a guided process, not a handoff. We help you plan, move data, test, and go live in a way that keeps giver trust intact. Your rollout plan depends on what you are switching from, what data is available, and how you want to communicate the change.
- Activation: kickoff, documentation and onboarding
- Plan: goals, expectations and feature requests
- Migration: giving strategy and data move
- Go-Live: testing and launch
We focus on a smooth giver experience and clear communication. When givers know what to expect, giving momentum stays steady.
We also help you choose a rollout plan that avoids a sudden, confusing change for everyone at once.
My Well offers three migration paths, depending on your church’s needs and what your current provider is able or willing to release. Each option builds on the one before it, and our team uses purpose-built migration tools to help move the right data with care, accuracy, and security.
- Giver Import: brings over giver profile details so your church has a clean starting point in My Well.
- Schedule Import: also called a Partial Schedule Import, this includes giver records and helps carry forward recurring giving schedules when available.
- Encrypted Data Transfer: includes givers, schedules, and saved payment information when your current provider or gateway can securely release that data.
Because every provider and gateway handles data differently, migration is not one-size-fits-all. Our Second Mile team will review what is available, explain the cleanest path forward, and use the right tools for your migration path to help protect giving momentum through the switch.
That happens more than you would think. If payment methods cannot be migrated, we can still migrate giver records and schedules, then prompt givers to re-enter payment details at the right moment.
The key is timing and messaging so it feels simple, not disruptive.
In many cases, yes. If schedules can be imported, we do it. If not, we help you rebuild them with the least friction possible for givers.
Either way, we help you protect recurring giving because it is often the heartbeat of Church generosity.
Many migrations complete within a few weeks, but timing depends on data availability and how quickly your current provider responds.
We will give you a realistic timeline early, then keep you updated as milestones are completed.
Yes. We help your Church explain the switch in a way that is clear, pastoral, and practical, so givers know what is changing, why it matters, and what action they may need to take.
As part of the rollout, My Well can share communication templates your team can adapt for emails, church announcements, reminder messages, and launch timing. We also help you think through key talking points, giver next steps, and the right communication cadence before and after go-live.
The goal is to make the change feel simple for your Church and clear for your givers, helping protect giving momentum through the transition.
Go-live is the moment we want to feel boring, in the best way. We test before launch, verify key flows, and keep the right people on standby.
If anything needs quick adjustments, our team is ready to respond.
In some cases, yes. Parallel setups can be helpful for testing and staff confidence.
We will recommend whether it makes sense based on your current platform and how giving is configured today.
We will ask for a few practical inputs: your current provider details, desired go-live timing, and the data you want migrated.
After kickoff, we will guide you step by step so your team is never guessing what to do next.
